Children's rights 

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the human rights instrument, which has been ratified by the most countries around the world. Nevertheless, millions of children across the world are still not adequately protected, supported, heard or involved in decisions that directly affect their lives. SOS Children's Villages places a particular emphasis on the rights of children who do not live in the security of their families or whose families are seriously disadvantaged. We get involved through different networks, projects, campaigns, cooperation and intensive lobbying for their interests and needs.

Protect children, empower children

To give children a voice in all possible committees and to establish firm requirements so that children can have better living conditions is one way of giving children access to their rights. Another way is to actually put the ball in their court, so that they are not only seen as "victims" who depend on the help of adults, but that they rather see themselves as social actors who have a say, are allowed to set limits, have a right to protection and can ask for help.
