Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, became the official spokesperson of SOS Children's Villages - USA in 2004. The collaboration was officially announced during the Duchess's visit to the SOS Children's Village in Coconut Creek, Florida, on March 8, 2004.

"There isn't another place I know of in the United States of America that provides this kind of attention for children who, really, have been through so very, very much," said Ferguson.

During her visit, Ferguson took time to tour the premises and had one-on-one conversations with children.

"SOS Children's Villages provides the permanency, the support, the ability for these children to be able to take their shoes off and really kick back and learn about healing and learn about their lives," said Ferguson. "I am proud to say that I support the work being done by SOS Children's Villages here in the United States and around the world."

In August 2005, Ferguson took part in TLC's "Extreme Home Makeover" by surprising Sandra, an SOS mother in the SOS Children's Village in Lockport, Illinois, with a home makeover.

Ferguson's continued support of the SOS cause is a source of inspiration for the children and everyone associated with SOS Children's Villages.
