Building and maintaining schools is not the core business of SOS Children's Villages. Ensuring access to relevant education can also mean working together with community or governmental education programs in order to support the skills and competencies of the respective schools and kindergartens.
We also have to approach governments and education authorities to become partners in funding our programs, thus allowing us to ensure access for all children in the program to quality education.
Cooperation with Partners Guarantees Success of Projects
Close cooperation with partners guarantees the success of the projects as well as their sustainability. Partners include schools and kindergartens (which may also act as resource centers or good practice models) as well as local education authorities and ministries of education. Other project partners are teacher training colleges and similar institutions, international organizations, or local NGOs and companies.
Advocating Fee and Compulsory Primary Education
In places where governments have established free and compulsory primary education, part of SOS Children's Villages mandate is to advocate that.
