SOS Children's Villages are integrated in their local communities. The care for children goes far beyond the village gates. SOS Children's Village facilities are oriented to their local surroundings: Both children from the SOS Children's Village and the neighboring communities attend SOS Kindergartens and SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools.

Moreover, SOS Social Centers offer their services to the families of the neighborhood. The long-term goals are to help local families rise above the poverty line while imparting skills and knowledge.

SOS Children’s Villages has 438 villages across the world; in all, we take care of approximately 50,000 children directly in our villages. Additionally, through our “Family Strengthening Programs,” we affect hundreds of thousands more people by aiming to reduce and eliminate root causes of child abandonment, which include poverty, war, and illness.
