| Annie Arnzen and an SOS child in Botswana |
One of our most inspirational volunteers is Annie Arnzen. Annie has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars to build a new SOS Children's Village in Botswana. Here is her story...
Eager to help orphaned and abandoned children, Annie traveled to the SOS Village in Tlokweng, Botswana in 2006 while her father was visiting the country on a business trip.
Annie, then only 13 years old, helped care for children in the Tlkokweng village. But her help didn't stop there.
When she returned home to Massachusetts, she ambitiously started a campaign to raise money to help build a new SOS Village in Botswana.
Annie went to schools, churches and other groups to ask for their help to raise funds for the new village. Her efforts were written about in many news outlets and she even appeared on TV to tell others about her experiences and how they can help orphaned and abandoned children.
Shortly after that, people from all over Massachusetts were calling her and writing to her asking how they could help.
Annie also contacted over a hundred high schools in her home state telling them how to get involved in World Orphan Week. The response was tremendous, and people were moved by Annie's story and eager to get involved themselves.
Volunteers like Annie, bring so much to World Orphan Week and SOS Children's Villages. Take action and become involved, too!
