All proceeds of the 32-page book, which is bound in precious leather and was donated by the LOC, will go to
6 villages for 2006, the joint fundraising campaign of SOS Children's Villages and FIFA. "This is without doubt the most precious fan book of all time", said FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter.
SOS is also auctioning other World Cup memorabilia on
www.sos-auktion.de including a football signed by Portuguese footballers Nuno Gomes, Maniche and head coach Felipe Scolari; a football signed by Ukraine football star Andriy Shevchenko, t-shirts signed by Mexican footballer Jose Antonio Castro and Brazil's former World Cup champion Dunga; two statues of Goleo VI from the Media Centre in Munich and one giant size stuffed animal Goleo VI.
6 villages for 2006, a joint charity campaign between SOS Children's Villages and FIFA, is the most ambitious fundraising project ever in the history of football's biggest tournament. Every donation made will help SOS Children's Villages and FIFA provide 800 orphaned, abandoned and destitute children with a new family environment at six new children's villages - one each in Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Ukraine and Vietnam. A further 5,000 children and 1,000 families will benefit from new ancillary schools and social centres.
