September 29, 2010: Chevrolet Europe announced a new partnership with SOS Children’s Villages that will increase the mobility of SOS Children and the SOS Mothers and staff who care for them around the world.

To launch the partnership, and to celebrate Chevrolet’s one-hundredth anniversary in 2011, the car company will give one hundred Chevrolet cars to SOS Children’s Villages.

"Providing cars is the most natural way for us as a car manufacturer to help SOS. We hope that the vehicles can improve the daily lives of the kids and their caretakers," said Wayne Brannon, President of Chevrolet Europe. "We are proud to support an independent organization of the scope, dedication, and commitment that SOS is demonstrating in both their daily work and their disaster relief programs."

The initiative will help improve the lives of SOS children and their SOS mothers. The cars will also allow SOS social workers in SOS family strengthening programs to visit disadvantaged families, who often live in remote areas that cannot be reached by public transportation. SOS works to bolster family stability so that more families remain intact.

"SOS mothers need to be mobile for the same reasons other parents do. They manage all the same challenges of running a large household,” said Richard Pichler, Secretary-General of SOS Children's Villages International. "The mobility of all our co-workers is really crucial for us to be able to support children," Pichler explained.

At Chevrolet's Fashion Catwalk event in Paris on September 29—the kick-off for the Chevrolet-SOS partnership—the company also announced that a very special dress will be auctioned in 2011, with the proceeds going to SOS Children’s Villages-France. The dress will be created for Chevrolet by renowned French haute couture fashion designer Frank Sorbier.
