Anna Netrebko visits with children at the SOS Children's Village Hinterbrühl near Vienna, Austria.
Netrebko was named one of Time magazine's most influential people in the world in 2007 for her incredible talents and committment to children's causes. The Grammy-nominated soprano has also performed in many of the world's great opera companies, including the famous Metropolitan Opera, and was named 2008 "Musician of the Year" by Musical America.
"I have decided to support SOS Children's Villages because I think that an organization such as that, which is so focused on supporting children in need, deserves all out support," said Netrebko. "I am very moved to see that children from difficult backgrounds across the world are offered a good home and a family."
"It is so important for a child to have a family”
She added. "Because if, as a child, you receive a lot of love, you can pass this on when you are grown up." Netrebko is a new mother herself, and she shares this love with her child.
