#MandelaDay 2014: Honoring Nelson Mandela's Life and Leadership
Today, we celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela, a strong advocate for peace and social justice. His work in the world, along with the support he had for SOS Children’s Villages will always be remembered.

We take the opportunity of Mandela Day to pay tribute to a man who recognized the power deep within each of us. SOS Children's Villages works in that spirit every day to come alongside orphaned and abandoned children and families in need, so that with love and support they can dream big and achieve much. Thank you, Nelson Mandela, for your inspiring life and leadership.

Mandela supported the building of the sixth SOS Children’s Village in South Africa. The former president of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize winner has had a tremendous impact on the world that will never fade.

His legacy has inspired many to start advocating for peace, equality, and the importance of education. Through his example, libraries are being established for primary schools, charities have started in his name, and service organizations are growing.

Communities on social media have been inspiring people to “make every day a Mandela day”, in order to raise awareness and campaign for a global movement for social good.
