Will you try our sweet potato pie?

As you prepare your Thanksgiving meal and gather around the table with your loved ones, children at SOS Children’s Villages will be doing the same. Carline, who grew up in the village in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, shares her childhood sweet potato pie recipe that she learned from her SOS mother. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving is just one week away! Do you know what you’ll be having for dessert?

As you prepare your Thanksgiving meal and gather around the table with your loved ones, children at SOS Children’s Villages will do the same.

Holidays at SOS villages are exciting celebrations filled with food, family, and fun. Carline grew up in a village in Port-au-Prince, Haiti with nine brothers and sisters, two of whom were her biological siblings. Her SOS mother taught Carline to cook so she could help make meals for her large family. She cherished this time with her SOS mom.

One of the specialties they made together was a delicious sweet potato pie.

To this day, Carline still cooks the sweet potato pie recipe that she and her SOS mother made all those years ago. The process of baking and the pleasant aromas bring back loving memories of their family kitchen.

Carline has graciously shared her childhood sweet potato pie recipe for more people to enjoy! See the recipe card above.

I hope that baking this pie and sharing it with loved ones this holiday season brings you as much happiness as it does Carline.

We wish you the joy of a #LovingHome this holiday season.

From our family to yours,

Neil
