Families losing everything
Since 2002, SOS Children’s Villages has provided safe homes and loving families to children without parental care and strengthened families to prevent separation in Somaliland.
With Somaliland entering its fifth year of a severe drought, children and families are in crisis. As a primarily agrarian country, families in Somaliland rely on livestock and crops to earn a sustainable income. But at least 3.5 million livestock have died in the drought, devastating family’s livelihoods, plunging communities into food crises and leaving millions in need of urgent help.
Humanitarian needs are at an all-time high, but we remain dedicated to protecting vulnerable children from malnutrition, displacement and exploitation—bringing decades of emergency expertise and strong local relationships to make a sustainable, lasting impact on those in need.
