FAMINE: Children in Sudan urgently need your help

DONATE NOW

Sudan conflict

Two years into Sudan’s devastating civil war, the conflict has escalated into the worst humanitarian crisis in recorded history.

30 million (three in every five) people require urgent aid—the highest number of people in need ever recorded.

More than 12 million people were forced to leave their homes—more than half of them children—making it the world’s largest displacement crisis.

More than 24 million people, half the population, are acutely food insecure with eight million approaching catastrophic hunger levels—the highest emergency levels of hunger recorded.

EMERGENCY: Children in Sudan are starving.

Famine has officially been declared in Sudan—and children are suffering the most.

More than 24 million people are acutely food insecure, with 6.3 million children and families on the brink of starvation.

Children are wasting away, and with no food available, parents are helpless to prevent their children from starving to death.

But today, you can help feed a hungry child in Sudan with your donation to the Children in Crisis Fund.

Please don’t wait—you can be the difference between starvation and survival a child desperately needs.

Our collective impact in Sudan

Since 1978, SOS Children’s Villages has provided safe homes and loving families to children without parental care and strengthened families to prevent separation in Sudan.

In response to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, SOS Children’s Villages is providing immediate, life-saving aid as well as the long-term support families and children need to survive this emergency and thrive in the future.

SOS Children’s Villages launched an emergency plan to provide critical and life-saving assistance to the most affected families and children. With the support of compassionate people like you, our local staff and partner organizations, together, we:

  • Launched a comprehensive, three-year emergency response program that will provide life-saving assistance to more than 32,000 of the most affected individuals by 2026—providing food security, water and sanitation resources and economic empowerment to caregivers while protecting children from abuse, neglect and violence.

  • Provided hygiene kits, financial assistance and psychosocial support for children and young people to more than 10,000 people.

  • Delivered child-friendly spaces for educational and mental health services to 515 children.

  • Supported 150 families fostering children without parental care.

  • Reunified 25 children with their families after they had been separated in the conflict.

Humanitarian needs are at an all-time high for the children in Sudan, and we remain dedicated to protecting them from violence, displacement, exploitation and malnutrition—bringing decades of emergency expertise and strong local relationships to make a sustainable, lasting impact in the lives of the children who need us most.
