The SOS Children’s Villages community has suffered a second, tragic loss as a result of the Ebola virus. Monrovia medical center was closed for one week as precaution; closest co-workers remain under observation.

One child in every 11 dies as a result of preventable health conditions in Ethiopia. A quarter of the population – most of whom are illiterate and poor– live at least 10km from any health facility. Rural women are now at the forefront of change.

"Football for Peace and Development" is the name of SOS Children's Villages' football campaign, which is currently taking place in Ghana. A total of 750 children and young people from three African countries met up at SOS Children's Village Tema, which is near to the capital Accra.
