2024 reflections: A year of building brighter futures
When I reflect on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude for the transformative impact friends like you have made possible in the lives of vulnerable children.
Because of you, children around the world have safe, loving homes, all the resources they need to thrive and a bright, hopeful future.

For the first 18 months of his life, Constantin was often alone, hungry and frail. When he joined a loving home at an SOS Children’s Village in Rwanda, Constantin was so malnourished he couldn’t stand up.
Now, Constantin’s SOS Mother says she can hardly keep him still! With a loving family and nutritious food, Constantin is thriving!

Following the devastating earthquake in Syria in February 2023, SOS Children’s Villages relentlessly provided short- and long-term aid to the children and families who needed it most—delivering health care services, food, education, legal support, rent, income-generating activities, newborn kits and more. A year later, families are flourishing!
“I didn’t expect you to come all the way back for me,” said one mother of an 11-day old baby when SOS staff delivered a critical newborn supplies kit. “No one ever came back for me.”

With generous partners like you, SOS is one of the only organizations continuing to protect and care for children in the most dangerous areas of Gaza. Our utmost priority is and will always be the well-being of children.

Globally, women and children face disproportionate barriers in accessing digital tools and the internet, limiting equitable access to health care, education and employment resources.
SOS Children’s Villages introduced ICT4D, information and communication technologies for development, initiatives in Benin and Zimbabwe to promote equitable access to digital tools and the Internet, empowering women with new pathways to success in receiving online health care, education and employment opportunities.
The initiative achieved a 92% graduation rate among girls in advanced graphic design skills and digital freelancing! Now, thanks to partners like you, women and girls have the resources, training and equitable opportunities they need to pursue STEM careers.

In 2024, SOS Children’s Villages celebrated 75 years of providing safe, loving homes for children without parental care. In honor of the milestone achievement, SOS released “75 Years of Impact”, a publication that explores our long-term impact in the lives of children, families and communities.
Among other compelling data, the publication found that 92% of those who received family-like care and family strengthening services from SOS now have strong family relationships and support networks of their own. And, if they have a family, feel they give quality care to their own children!

Spending time in nature and cultivating a sense of belonging are two crucial aspects of a healthy childhood. Every summer since 1953, thousands of children from SOS Children’s Villages around the world enjoy both at a summer camp in the Italian Alps.
“Every year, I meet new people from different countries,” said a young participant. “I learn something about other nations, about their cultures. I enjoy the nature here too.”
