Girl from SOS Tunisia sings on The Voice Kids

Nesrine Bouchnak made all three judges of The Voice Kids turn their chairs around during auditions that aired earlier this month.

Nine-year-old Nesrine, who lives at SOS Children’s Village Mahres in Tunisia, impressed the judges with her performance of a traditional Tunisian song called “In Jaka Rabii,” or “If spring comes.” She will now advance to the next round in February.

Nesrine started singing at the age of five when she joined the music and choir club at the children’s village.

“Nesrine’s experience is a strong message to all children that there is always hope to achieve their dreams as long as they are persistent,” says Village Director Achraf Saidi. “Every child has potential and it is our duty to orient it and to support them.”

Nesrine used to watch The Voice Kids television show and dreamed of participating. The village staff registered her in the first casting that took place in Tunisia. She passed and made it to the blind auditions, which took place in Lebanon on January 11.

The day of the show, everyone in the village gathered to watch Nesrine’s performance. Her mother, siblings and friends were very happy when they saw the three coaches turn their chairs around for her.

Nesrine picked the Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, who turned for her first, to coach her as she continues her adventure on this TV singing contest.
