Donations will go to help children at SOS South Korea
We’re thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with Omaze: an online fundraising platform that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences to raise money for nonprofit organizations like ours.
Omaze is giving you the chance to win a trip to go bowling with the K-pop band iKON (flights and four-star hotel included)! The best part? Donations will go to help children at SOS Children’s Villages South Korea.
Visit omaze.com/ikon, make a donation and you’re entered to win. It’s that easy!
The money raised from this contest will provide psychological support to the children of South Korea living in the SOS villages of Daegu, Seoul and Suncheon that includes:
- Hiring more specialists to focus on the psychological needs of the children.
- Providing psychological counseling, therapy and emotional support programs.
- Increased education for child care employees in new psychological techniques to build a stronger support system for children’s psychological stability, growth and development.
- Increased advocacy with the South Korean government about the importance of psychological support for children without family care. This advocacy work has a goal to positively impact all vulnerable children in other South Korean child welfare facilities by ensuring increased deployment of psychology experts.
As of January 2020, there are a total of 169 children living in the SOS villages of Daegu, Seoul and Suncheon. Though their backgrounds are varied, all of the children have suffered deep psychological wounds from poverty, child abuse and/or family breakup. The funds from this contest will benefit every single child in our care in South Korea.
The experts at SOS South Korea will review individual children’s cases to evaluate their needs, develop psychological interventions and set appropriate objectives. Children who require immediate psychological treatment (approximately 40 children) will undergo a specialist’s assessment, followed by counseling sessions and treatment suited to each child’s unique circumstances (like play therapy, art therapy, or horticultural therapy).
