11 October 2013 SOS Children’s Villages - USA Launches Annual Diwali Campaign with Diyas for Hope 10/11/2013: SOS Children’s Villages - USA has launched the Diyas for Hope campaign to celebrate the Indian festival of Diwali, the festival of lights commemorating the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and hope over despair. The campaign is centered on honoring the children living in our forty SOS Children’s Villages in India by lighting virtual diyas - a traditional candle used to represent the principles of Diwali - for hope. Each diya lit brings a little more hope, and a little more love, to children around the world. Get Involved with #Diyas4Hope You can be a part of our Diwali celebrations by visiting www.diyasforhope.org and lighting a virtual diya in honor of a child. You’ll be able to see your diya light up while at the same time watching other SOS supporters light up our diya map with hope and love. Once you’ve lit your diya, share your success with your friends and family via Facebook and Twitter, and let the world know you support SOS. If you want to get the word out on your own, make sure to tag us with #Diyas4Hope! Lighting a diya isn’t the only way to support children this Diwali. Go one step further with your gift of hope by donating to SOS Children’s Villages. Your gift will ensure that children in India and around the world receive the care they need to grow. SOS Children’s Villages in India SOS Children’s Villages creates permanent, loving families for orphaned and abandoned children. We provide caring and trained mothers who give individual attention and guidance to each child until they become an independent adult. We support more than 80,000 children in 500 Villages across 133 countries, including India. Through our outreach programs, we impact the lives of over 1 million people each year. In India, we raise over 5,000 children in our 41 SOS Children’s Villages, where each child grows up in a loving, stable home. At SOS we don’t just focus on raising children, we give them the building blocks they need to be successful in life. Our outreach efforts include building schools and medical centers, and establishing programs to strengthen the entire community. Education, healthcare, and loving bonds that last a lifetime are all a part of the SOS Children’s Villages model. Click here to learn more about our work in India!
