The Jaharis Family Foundation, Inc. has recently announced a $2 million Challenge Gift that will support hunger and poverty relief efforts through the work of three NGO’s who have an established presence in Greece.
The Challenge Gift is being divided among the International Orthodox Charities (IOCC), Doctors of the World, and SOS Children’s Villages. Since 1975, SOS has supported the children of Greece through our core work of raising orphaned and abandoned children. Today we are reaching out to Greek families through SOS Social Centers. Parent-training, job skills training, family counseling, and micro-loans for families at risk of abandoning their children are all a part of the SOS program in Greece.
Lynn Croneberger, Chief Executive Officer of SOS Children’s Villages – USA, Inc., expressed just how grateful SOS is for the gift: “The support of the Jaharis Family Foundation, and the generous gift they have provided, will help SOS give children and families the support they so desperately need to thrive in the face of economic turmoil. We could not be more grateful that the Jaharis Family Foundation has chosen SOS as one of its beneficiaries.”
The Directors of the Jaharis Family Foundation hope this gift will inspire others to give to Greece, and will multiply the impact of the Challenge Gift. To join the Challenge, click here!
