SOS Children’s Villages Awarded Grant to Support Families during Greek Economic Crisis

New York, NY: On October 3rd, 2013, Lynn Croneberger, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages - USA, attended The Hellenic Initiative’s Inaugural Banquet with George Protopapas, National Director SOS Children’s Villages Greece. Ms. Croneberger and Mr. Protopapas were honored to accept a grant contributing to their organization’s work in providing critical support to children and families affected by the Greek economic crisis.

The banquet, which was one of the most successful fundraising initiatives hosted by the Greek-American community, focused on the theme “Investing in the Future of Greece.” Former President Bill Clinton, Greek Prime Minister Anotonis Samaras, and prominent members of the Greek-American community, including George Stephanopoulos, were in attendance.

In addition to providing loving homes for orphaned children, SOS Children’s Villages has added programs to support recovery and renewal in Greece. SOS has established two Youth Facilities and is helping Greek families in seven Social Centers, providing parent-training, job skills training, family counseling, and micro-loans for families at risk of abandoning their children.
