Delivering immediate care and hope for a brighter future to children and families in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico.
A complex migration crisis in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico has left thousands of children and families in crisis.
During harrowing migration journeys, many children have been separated from their families-leaving them along. Others may have fled their country alone or in a group but without a caregiver. With no parent to protect them, these children lack access to vital basic needs—like nutritious food, shelter, medical care and safety from violence and exploitation.
Children and families are also returning or are being returned to the region, destitute after spending their resources to undertake the migration journey, or without social support after a prolonged absence.
But SOS Children’s Villages is here to give children the happy, healthy and protected childhoods they deserve—and equip their families with the resources they need to build a brighter future for their children.
SOS’ program Weaving Paths is providing a safe haven for vulnerable children across all three countries. Unlike other organizations working with children who are migrating, SOS provides unaccompanied or separated children what they need most: the nurturing support and protection of family-like care, while also addressing the needs of young people and families with children who need extra support to integrate into new communities along the way or upon return to their home country.
