The Village
SOS Children’s Villages operates a tree-lined foster care neighborhood in Coconut Creek, Florida. The 12 houses in the village, run by trained and loving caregivers, provide a safe and secure home for up to 75 children and youth. The village creates a nurturing and vibrant environment with an array of services to help the children overcome their past trauma and build successful futures.
Preparing young people for independence
Young people are prepared for independence through the Next Steps program. Next Steps provides a continuum of services to young adults–both from SOS Children’s Villages Florida and the surrounding community – who have aged out of foster care. The program supports youth in the areas of employment, affordable housing, financial literacy, education and more.
Strengthening families
We focus on helping biological parents overcome the circumstances that brought their children into care. Through individual and family counseling and parenting classes, we empower parents and reunite families whenever possible.
Other services
SOS Children’s Villages offers special programs as part of the holistic care provided to the children living in the village. These programs ensure that children have access to all the resources they need to be successful. For example, Girl Talk provides teen and preteen girls with a safe and nonjudgmental environment in which to ask questions and share concerns about their lives. Topics of discussion include self-care, wellness, nutrition, careers, leadership development and more.
