Your simple act is their better childhood, their future

As part of the Armenian diaspora, your support can help children return to their families, access education and build a brighter future in their homeland.

You remember the sound of church bells on Sunday mornings. You carry the smell of lavash baking in your grandmother’s oven. You know what it means to be Armenian — to never forget your roots.

Now imagine a child growing up in Armenia, never knowing those simple joys — unless someone like you helps.

This isn’t just a charity. This is love and support to your homeland.

In Armenia today, 1 in 3 children lives in poverty

A call from Armenia

Every day, parents make heartbreaking decisions — not because they don’t love their children, but because poverty forces them to choose between buying food or medicine, sending a child to school or keeping the lights on.

But across Armenia, there are too many children who are already growing up without the care of a loving family, without the love of a parent, without bedtime stories, without someone to call “Mayrik” or “Hayrik.”

But the reality can be changed — and the change starts with you.

For Aida

Nine-year-old Aida was walking slowly next to her father, happy and a little nervous — it was her first day at school. Her father, Tigran, gave her book bag to the teacher, kissed her goodbye and rushed off to work.

Armine, an SOS social worker, remembers meeting the family: “Tigran had lost his job after displacement and couldn't buy the tools he needed for welding. Their savings had gone to Aida’s medical needs. They were really struggling.”

SOS Children’s Villages Armenia helped the family. Aida received two surgeries, along with medical and psychological support. Though she must still be careful, her condition has improved.

“With Tigran, we listed the tools he needed. When I brought them, he had tears in his eyes,” says Armine. 'Now I can work, buy medicine for Aida and clothes for the kids,' Tigran said. And now that Aida is feeling better and Tigran has a job, things are finally looking up."

A story you shouldn't ignore

Like many children, Aram suffers in silence—until someone like you steps in

Not every childhood is filled with warmth. For some, it feels more like a nightmare you silently beg to wake up from.

This is Aram’s story.

Aram is a 13-year-old boy battling diabetes and epilepsy. But what makes his journey even more heartbreaking is that the person who was supposed to protect him — his own mother — became the source of his deepest trauma.

Aram and his four siblings survived a horrifying attempt on their lives, after their mother, challenged by mental health issues, poisoned them.

Following this tragedy, all five children were taken to an orphanage, and later, with their grandmother’s request, referred to SOS Children’s Village in Ijevan.

Sadly, three of the siblings developed the same mental health condition as their mother and were placed in a special care center.

Aram, though mentally stable, continues to struggle physically. His blood analysis shows high sugar and acetone levels, requiring daily medication and constant monitoring. Despite everything, he keeps fighting—especially for his little sister, who now has only him in her life.

Margarita Grigoryan

"This journey began for me when I learned about the incredible work this organization does for the most vulnerable children who have lost their parents and are at risk of losing the warmth of a family. Becoming an SOS Friend is more than just a monthly contribution; it's an opportunity to weave hope and love into the lives of these children. I was happy to have a chance to join this organization and to help children who need our support."

Tatevik Terteryan

"I am very happy to join the SOS family and I am sure that with my small contribution I can help children who are in a difficult phase of life. Let us not spare our efforts. Let us put our hearts and minds into action so that all this is built on solid and stable foundations. However, all the efforts made for and for children will be in vain if, first of all, their peaceful childhood is not guaranteed. Peace is not just blue skies. Children should be the focus of each of us."

Hovhannes Khachatryan

"I am glad that thanks to the SOS Children's Villages organization, we are contributing our small contribution to building a bright future for the children of Armenia. May all the beneficiary children have a happy childhood and, growing up, strengthen our country so that all children are secure."
