Our Mission:We build families for children in need, we help them shape their own futures, and we share in the development of their communities.
SOS Children's Villages builds loving, stable families for orphaned, abandoned and other vulnerable children in 135 countries, including the United States. We are the largest non-governmental organization dedicated to the care of orphaned and abandoned children, with 70 years of expertise.
Our comprehensive approach — preventing child abandonment, offering long-term care for children in need and empowering young people with the resources to reach their full potential — transforms the lives of millions of children and families worldwide each year.

They are unable to reach their potential because they lack a stable, loving home and family.
Through our family support and care programs, education and training programs, and emergency relief efforts, we impact the lives of millions of children and their families.
We give families at risk of falling apart the support they need to grow stronger and stay together. When children cannot stay with their family or have no family, we provide them with a safe home where they grow up as part of one of our SOS Families. Because of our work in 2017, 595,100 children and families are stable and strong.
Through our established medical centers around the world, SOS Children’s Villages offers urgent and ongoing medical care, specializing in the care of women and children. In 2017, we provided over 854,800 health services, including vaccinations, HIV/AIDS treatment and mental health programs.
Education lifts children and families out of poverty. In 2017, 284,000 children and youth around the world received a quality education through SOS schools, day care centers and job skills training programs.
When war or disaster threatens children’s lives, we provide the unique care and protection they need. Through SOS Emergency Response Programs, we deliver critical aid, rescue and reunite children with their families, and offer protection and care for traumatized children at our SOS Child-Friendly Spaces. In 2017, we provided over 2 million services to vulnerable children and families. Our emergency response teams have helped children at risk in more than 150 humanitarian situations around the world, including the Syrian conflict and the Rohingya refugee crisis.
