There are several ways you can leave a gift to SOS Children’s Villages USA in your estate plan:

Specific Gift
You can choose to leave a fixed sum or percentage of money.

Residual Gift
After all of your debts, bills and taxes have been paid and all specific and non-specific gifts have been distributed, you can leave a share or percentage of your remaining estate as a residual gift.

Charitable Gift Annuity
If you reside in California, Florida, Maryland, or Texas, you can set up a charitable gift annuity. This type of gift returns annual payments back to you for life.

Tax-Free IRA Rollover Gift
Individuals over age 70 ½ can roll over, tax-free, up to $100,000 from their IRA to charity. You can donate directly from your IRA to SOS Children’s Villages USA and reduce your tax bill.

You can give stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Because of tax considerations, you can often give appreciated assets and enjoy the tax deduction, rather than paying a capital gains tax.

Retirement Plans
You may find that you can make the largest gift of your life from “what’s left” in your retirement account or pension plan. This allows you to provide for your retirement first, and then support charities like SOS Children’s Villages USA.

Life Insurance
Policies taken out to protect mortgages which have since been paid or educational plans that have been completed make excellent gifts.

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
If you have a DAF, you can designate a beneficiary to receive the remaining funds. You can choose to designate all or a portion of the account’s value to SOS Children’s Villages, your other favorite charities or your family so that your legacy of philanthropy continues.
