FOURTH OF JULY POKE CAKE

This Fourth of July, celebrate with simple style! This cake adds color and life to any party, picnic, or barbeque, and is perfect for both kids and adults. Plus, with just thirty minutes of prep time and less than ten ingredients, this festive cake couldn’t be any easier!

You’ll Need:

  • 1 package white cake mix
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 package of jello, any color or flavor (for a more festive take, try red or blue!)
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 tub whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup blueberries

Directions:

Prepare and bake cake according to package directions. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for fifteen minutes before piercing the cake with a large pronged fork at ½ inch intervals.

As the cake cools, prepare the jello. Add the gelatin to the boiling water (carefully!) until completely dissolved. Add the ½ cup of cold water and pour over the cake. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until completely cooled.

Frost with the whipped topping and add the strawberries and blueberries (you can even decorate in the shape of the American flag, if you’re feeling really patriotic!). Refrigerate for another hour, cut, and enjoy!

Makes 16 servings.
