Meet another monthly supporter: Gatod
Pharmacist. Lawyer. Graduate student.
When Gatod was a boy and his family fled war in South Sudan in the 1980s, these dreams seemed impossible.
But then he was able to attend an SOS Children’s Villages school, and that changed everything.
Today, his uncle is a lawyer; his brother, a pharmacist. And Gatod is pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Arizona.
“I give all my credit to that school,” Gatod said. “It gave me hope and opened my eyes to education.”
But Gatod’s story doesn’t end with his own success. During his school years, he formed friendship with children from the nearby SOS Village.
“While I was lucky enough to have my mom and dad, those kids didn’t have anyone but SOS,” he said. “I saw firsthand how this is something good to be involved in, something that makes a difference in this world.”
Now, despite living on a tight student’s budget, Gatod is a monthly sustainer of SOS Children’s Villages.
“I’m a student, so I can’t give much,” he said. “But I know that if I give a little, and someone else gives a little, that it will add up to great impact for kids in need.”
