Building resiliency while supporting youth to independence.
What does it take to lead someone from childhood to independence? It takes a comprehensive approach where every child, youth and young adult is encouraged to find their own voice, develop their skills and build their own community that will support them on their journey and celebrate their success.
Nearly 71 million young people worldwide are unemployed. As this number continues to grow, so does the number of young people who live in extreme poverty. Far too many children and youth are unable to break the cycle of poverty and find a path to independence. Children without parental care are particularly at risk.
SOS Children’s Villages works to develop well-rounded and self-sufficient young adults, no matter their starting point in life. SOS takes a comprehensive and tailored approach to each individual’s passions and skills – working to empower each individual to reach their full potential. A study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group shows that investing in the SOS approach for supporting disadvantaged youth provides a return on investment of up to $14 for every $1 invested.
SOS provides access to quality education, tutoring and test preparation to help youth earn their high school diplomas and beyond.
SOS offers access to vocational training, hands-on learning through apprenticeships and real-life work experience to give youth the skills that employers are looking for, while entrepreneurial skills development programs prepare young people to go into businesses on their own.
SOS builds resilience, self-confidence and self-worth in youth through life skills guidance and training, advocacy and leadership coaching, individualized mentorship and community engagement.
You can empower the next generation and provide them with the education and training they need to thrive. Help a child fulfill their dreams.
