Children Need Global Advocates Like You

Why You Should Invest in SOS Children's Villages

A Global Advocate investment in SOS Children’s Villages makes a difference. SOS changes the life trajectory of millions of children and families each year, which in turn has an exponential impact on our global society. SOS has been a trusted expert in providing support to vulnerable children for nearly 70 years. Our grassroots approach, which includes hiring more than 99.5% of our global staff locally, makes us a trusted partner of government officials, residents, educators and volunteers within communities. In addition, our global presence and consistent results in 135 countries have earned us numerous awards and accreditations at the international level.

Social Return of Investment

Return on investment matters. Every dollar you invest in SOS supports direct services for the vulnerable children and families in our programs. According to the Boston Consulting Group, for every $1 invested in SOS programs, there is a $14 social return on investment.

  • 91% of former SOS children who become parents fulfill their parental obligations to their children.
  • In the United States, SOS youth are 6 times more likely to graduate from college than youth in traditional foster care.
  • 81% of children are self-reliant when leaving SOS’s long-term care.
  • Globally, 80% of the 500,000 children in SOS’s long-term care and family strengthening programs are meeting or exceeding performance levels for their grade.

The Results Speak for Themselves: Become an Advocate Today

Global Advocates work hand in hand with SOS Children’s Villages to achieve our joint mission – for all children to have a loving family and an opportunity to reach their full potential. Global Advocates play an active role in developing SOS’s strategic vision, advocating for children’s rights and raising the profile of SOS Children’s Villages. To maximize impact, we request that Global Advocates:

  • Attend a Global Advocate strategy meeting once per year to advise on SOS’s strategic focus.
  • Host or attend one event each year to energize and engage friends, colleagues and other philanthropists around SOS.
  • Play an active role in advocating for children’s rights at a local, state, national or international level.
  • Be a spokesperson by promoting SOS Children’s Villages’ work around the world.
