Hi we’re the Porters!

Based in Vancouver, British Colombia, we are embarking on adventure to circle the globe to ensure education and development opportunities for vulnerable children.

Our family of five will travel together in a single-engine aircraft around the world, stopping in more than 50 countries. To ensure this one-of-a-kind expedition also has meaning we will be raising $1 million to support SOS Children’s Villages’ work with vulnerable children and families around the world.

Our team consists of two parents Ian and Michelle, and three children Samantha, Sydney, and Christopher. We are a group of experienced travelers as well as avid flyers that have travelled extensively independently and as a family.

It’s important for our family that our voyage has a positive impact on communities, connects people around the world, and educates others on some of the pressing issues faced by families and children globally. For this reason, we have partnered with SOS Children’s Villages- the world’s largest charity working with orphaned and abandoned children. Together, we will help invest in a better future for young people and raise awareness of the challenges faced by children and families who lack access to their basic rights like education, health care, economic empowerment, and other supports vital to strong communities.

Our expedition departs from Vancouver in June 2022, touching down countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North and South America all while visiting SOS programming locations. The exact locations will evolve but will be shared in the coming months and as the expedition is underway.
